The Football Coaching Podcast with Joe Daniel
The Football Coaching Podcast with Joe Daniel
Wasted time in practice leads to unprepared players on game day. And with limited hours on the field, every minute has to count.
In this episode, Joe and Daniel dive into how to run efficient, high-energy practices that get your players ready—fast. They share how to build out practice plan shells, keep the tempo up with smooth transitions, and make sure your drills actually matter. You’ll also hear how to lean on veteran players, use film for faster corrections, and even streamline scouting with tools like wristbands.
• Each day of the week should “look” the same as it always has. Monday practices should look like Monday practices.
• They do NOT have to be the exact same, but should feel familiar
• Kids do not want to just show up and be babysat
• Active coaching, active learning, active players
• Practice should do 3 things
• Make them better players
• Let them Have Fun
• Allow them to Win Games
• Be more efficient with your time
• Have players where they’re supposed to be when they’re supposed to be there
• Don’t waste practice time with getting things together, you should have it planned already
• Ensure everything you’re doing is solving a problem, teaching a skill, or adding football IQ with situations
• Turn up the pressure on your coaches and players
