Since 2009 I have been helping football coaches achieve success as the founder of Joe Daniel Football. I am also the host of The Football Coaching Podcast, the longest running show produced exclusively for coaches.

As a coach, I have 20 seasons of experience on the sidelines at the High School level. And one season as a JuCo assistant, which was a whole different experience! I have been an Offensive Coordinator, Defensive Coordinator, and Head Football Coach during that time.

My experience has been much like that of the coaches I work with at JDFB. I coach at a small school, with limited numbers and a small coaching staff. We compete for players with other sports and, unfortunately in recent years, with other schools. We do not recruit. We coach the players we have. Most of our players play both ways. We are smaller than nearly every team on the schedule (in size and numbers). But myself and other coaches on our staff have a passion for this game, and we are problem solvers. We find a way, because we have no other choice.

Most recently, I have been part of a tremendous turn around at one of Virginia’s losingest programs in 3A High School Football. The team won a total of 4 games over the 3 seasons prior to our arrival. In our first season, we matched that win total. The team followed it up with the first winning season in 17 years. We doubled down in 2023 with back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since 1987.
