The Football Coaching Podcast with Joe Daniel
The Football Coaching Podcast with Joe Daniel
It seems like every coach on Earth has the same three complaints: We aren’t fast enough, we don’t have as many players as the other teams, and we aren’t tough enough. But, a general consensus of multiple 30+ year coaches says kids haven’t changed… expectations have.
On this episode Joe and Daniel discuss what it means to be tough, how accountability can toughen up your players, and the fact that relationships still reign supreme.
• Toughness isn’t conditioning until you vomit
• It also isn’t yelling, screaming, and demeaning players until they quit, or give in to their suppressor
• Kids need to know, if they don’t complete something they will be held accountable
• Kids also want to know if someone else isn’t giving their all, that person will be held accountable
• Coach, Players, everyone is held accountable regardless of position or depth chart spot
• Players will simply do more for someone they have a better relationship with.
• If they know you’ll make them better, they’ll be more resilient for you
• Players want to know the why of everything, and they deserve to know
• My Coaching Staff Isn’t on the Same Page
• How to Beat Teams That Have More Talent
• We Can’t Stop the Run
