The Football Coaching Podcast with Joe Daniel
The Football Coaching Podcast with Joe Daniel
A football coaching staff is often made up of a bunch of the same type of people. Those people aren’t great at communicating, they all think their way is the best way, and often they won’t even speak the same language due to the influence of different coaching trees throughout their careers. Sometimes that inability to communicate can hurt the team.
On this episode Joe and Daniel discuss the ASKA Principle, how to get your staff using the same language, and the benefits of you, your staff, and your team when communication is streamlined and made common.
• ASKA allows you to solve the problem of not being on the same page.
• Every position on your team would have an ASKA framework to operate out of
• There is a lot of communication going on pre-snap. Don’t add more than necessary to your players
• Your Coordinator should be able to give you the ASKA (or his version) without a ton of words
• “Be Dumb” when you’re asking these questions. Make them explain it like you’re a HS football player
• Keep communication on a HS level by talking in a simplified format
• Allow your ASKA to evolve, but don’t out smart yourself.
• How to Beat Teams That Have More Talent
• We Can’t Stop the Run
• I Have No Support from Parents or Administration
