The Football Coaching Podcast with Joe Daniel
The Football Coaching Podcast with Joe Daniel
As most of our seasons have come to an end, it’s time to take note of the good and bad from the last 10+ weeks. There has no doubt been some highlights that you’ve handled perfectly… and some lowlights of things you just weren’t prepared for.
On this episode Joe and Daniel discuss the methodical evaluation of your program, from what makes up an evaluation, why you need to do it now, and how to carry it out without forgetting anything.
• You have to fully evaluate each section of your program, from players and coaches, to how you store jerseys and protect your footballs
• Youth and Feeder programs have to be evaluated too
• You can’t shy away from evaluating parent interactions, and parent involvement in your program
• You’ll remember more if you start asking questions close to the end of the season.
• You tend to only remember the good or the bad, the longer you get away from the last whistle
• Break things down to their smallest pieces and ensure each is working efficiently
• Start with yourself, then work methodically through the coaching ranks
• Don’t forget to look at the program as a unit. Are your recruiting efforts paying off? Is there anything that isn’t working?
