Subject: Offensive Line Drills
Date: September 4, 2026
This may be my favorite podcast I’ve ever recorded. I love talking about the offensive line.
This week on the Football Coaching Podcast, we’re talking Offensive Line Drills. The ones you should be doing, and the drills you need to STOP. Equal importance here.
Drills need to translate to the field. Any drill that you don’t see happening on film is not a football drill.
In my new coaching manual Coach Simple, Vol. 1: The Lost Letters there is an entire chapter on fixing your drills so they translate to the field. And I created an audiobook so you can listen to it before your next practice:

Offensive Line coaches make the mistake of using drills that don’t translate more than any other position. The sled is the best example, and I talk about it in this week’d podcast.
Let’s keep this simple…
If your offensive line isn’t getting the job done, you need to listen to this podcast.
The solutions are in there. Here’s the link:

P.S. No excuses. If your OL is too small, never played before, don’t want to be linemen, don’t come to the weight room, have a low football IQ or just ain’t getting it done… listen to that podcast. Solutions are in there.
