Subject: 5 Tips for Game Film Analysis

It’s 0 Week in College Football. It’s also 0 Week for High School Football here in Virginia.

There is no standard starting date for the football season. But it’s safe to say that the 2026 Football Season is here.

For JDFB Platinum clients, that means it is time to send your game film to us for Game Film Analysis.

First, fill out the Game Film Analysis submission. It’s in the Platinum Perks section of your JDFB Courses page. We MUST have this form to know what we’re looking at (more on that in a minute!).

Then send the film by a one-way exchange to Joe Daniel Football on Hudl or QwikCut. We aim for 48-hour turnaround. If you send your film on Saturday, we want to get your GFA to you before Monday’s practice.

This week I met with our GFA staff. They’re all coaches who have used the service for themselves before. They know it works, and they know how to get the most out of it.

Those guys shared a few tips. These are ways you can get more out of the GFA service this season:

GFA Tip #1: Send your film ASAP. We have coaches ready to review your film all weekend. Make it part of your Friday Night or Saturday Morning workflow.

Bonus Tip: If you coach JV or Middle School and play games during the week, send it right away! You’ll get faster feedback when you are not in line with all the weekend games.

GFA Tip #2: Tell us EVERYTHING. What was the game plan? What worked? What didn’t work? Injuries? Unforeseen circumstances? Was your opponent a nationally ranked powerhouse? Little sisters of the poor? The more information you share, the better job we can do.

GFA Tip #3: Tell us what YOU WANT! We don’t have the capacity to watch every snap of every game. We watch for ~20 minutes and see as many clips as we can. Want us to start in the 2nd half? Tell us. Want us to only watch the run plays? Tell us. Back-ups were in by the 4th Quarter? Tell us!

GFA Tip #4: ALWAYS SEND THE FILM. You are not wasting our time. Just because it was a blowout does not mean there wasn’t something to learn. No matter how good, or how bad… send your game film every week.

GFA Tip #5: Use your GFA for accountability. If there’s a coach on staff who isn’t getting it done, they’ll get called out. If a player is not executing the technique, we’ll say it. Share it with your staff. Watch it with players when appropriate (use your own discretion). This is a tool!
