But coaches tend to make “simple” way too complicated. There is a massive fear of not having enough stuff.

The fear for the most successful coaches is different. The fear is not executing the stuff you have.

They focus on the 1-on-1 game. Using the right drills. Efficient, effective practice plans.

Those coaches aren’t scheming an elaborate flavor-of-the-week defense every week. They have an identity. The game plan every week is simply,
Do What We Do.

Tweaks and twists, for sure. Every play caller needs a trick or two up his sleeve. But not at the expense of Excellence of Execution. (thanks, Hitman)

You can always add more. But once you waste time and clutter their brains with too much, you cannot get time wasted or trust from the
players back.
