Subject: Coach Stupid. Play Slow. Lose.

There’s a formula for playing as slow as possible on defense. A sure fire way to slow your kids down and cause them to play very, very bad football.

For worst results, you’ll want to take this formula and implement it. Then double down on it.

How’s it work? 3 steps to get started…

1.Run the most complicated scheme possible. Make sure you’re doing this because of your ego and not because the schedule demands it or your team is ready for it.

2.Blame poor execution on the players. Refuse to take responsibility. Ignore any feedback or criticism, especially if it comes from the players.

3.Add more plays, more calls, and more layers of complexity. Keep trying to solve all your problems with new schemes. Keep throwing stuff against the wall.

Now, when this starts to cause problems… when your team is underachieving and you are at your wit’s end… after you have screamed and yelled at the athletes to fix it…

Double down. Add more complex schemes. Go completely deaf to the complaints from players and other coaches on staff. Refuse to seek outside help.

Remember, you are the smartest person in the room. It’s all [insert anyone else]’s fault.
